Hi, my name is Steve and I'm a software engineer by trade. I didn't grow up around computers. In fact, I built my first website a few years ago — a site for a local cafe that took me three days locked in my room following an HTML & CSS tutorial. Its centerpiece was a massive “Let's meat” headline I thought was genius at the time. I haven't touched that site since, but I've built better things since.

If it involves a start, an end, and a humbling journey between the two, I'm probably into it. I run, cycle relatively long distances, squat more than you'd expect, and love a solo hike. I have a questionable relationship with discomfort. Invite me for a session.

In late 2025, we tossed around the idea of starting a software company. We're now building products at Origin HQ and learning a ton.

One goal for 2026: simplify my defaults and build from first principles.

So apparently the life expectancy of a Kenyan is 67.7 years.

The original life-in-weeks idea belongs to Tim Urban. He drew it for himself and then made everyone else feel this existential dread.
Have fun with it, see your life in Mondays.
